Overview:

Filming for the latest series of Masked Singer was CSG Events’ first production in the Covid era. In addition to its normal responsibilities the CSG Events team had to ensure that that all Covid-safe protocols were adhered to.

Given that CSG Events is responsible for all accreditation onsite at Bovingdon, this began with a questionnaire to all cast, crew and suppliers. This determined that no on was living with anyone who was shielding or clinically vulnerable; that they hadn’t travelled to high-risk countries and that they agreed to be tested on a daily basis.  Once the site was up and running all temperature checks were carried out in person, from a safe distance, to maintain a level of human interaction. There was a strict regime with regards to the wearing of PPE, with masks, gloves and hand-sanitisers at designated points throughout the site. PPE was elevated for hair and make-up teams to reduce the risk of infection.

Another key area was developing a solution for catering that incorporated social distancing and minimising contact. The food delivery system created negated queuing, utilised catering pods, working out who was safe to work together and then kept people within their own cohorts. CSG Event also utilised Our Crew, a web based platform, for the star’s dressing rooms. They were fitted with maglocks that only talent runners and specific team members had access to. This was used to monitor when they were empty and could be cleaned and sanitised ahead of them arriving on site.

Masked Singer was also able to have an audience as restrictions were more relaxed around the time that it was filmed. This presented its own set of challenges, having reviewed the options that were allowed they decided upon 70 socially distanced family cohorts/ bubbles. These were mapped out on the studio floor. With eight shows filmed over three weeks and each show taking a day to film, there was plenty of time to clean chairs and facilities in between shows.
